Lined Hearts

Hearts are good for more than just Valentine’s Day.

The new release from Simon Says Stamp is HERE! Introducing the TO BE LOVED release! This release includes a lot of fun for both holidays and everyday for the next couple of months.

Techniques:

  • The main heart stamp from this set caught my eye. I love the graphic style of it, and realized the lines were spaced far enough apart that I could probably overlap the hearts… so I did!

  • CZ Design dies are among my favorites, so for my initial cards with this release I also wanted to make use of the new I’m Sorry word die from Simon Says Stamp & CZ Design.

  • I stamped and embossed one heart, offset from center, on some soft green cardstock using Liquid Platinum embossing powder. This is a great metallic that isn’t as yellow or brassy as many golds are, but is definitely warmer than a silver.

  • After that initial heart, I layered in two more hearts in with inks. I was careful to line them up so the lines in the hearts would all be parallel. (I saved the wonky effects for another card.)

  • I used a darker green ink on the heart at the top, and a lighter blue ink that would have less contrast behind where I was planning to put the greeting, so it would provide some pattern, but not visual clutter.

  • The card panel is mounted on a kraft A2 card base. I splattered some gold metallic watercolor on it to add some additional shine, and to break up the purely linear feel from those hearts.

  • The greeting is die cut from Champagne metallic cardstock, which is very similar to the color of the embossing powder I used. I complemented and grounded that with a secondary sentiment stamped and embossed on a deeper green cardstock.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Eucalyptus, Rainforest, Kraft, and Champagne Metallic.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Eucalyptus and Harbor. Versamark embossing ink.
