Tucked Hearts

Time for a new release from Simon Says Stamp!

The new release from Simon Says Stamp is HERE! Introducing the TO BE LOVED release! This release includes a lot of fun for both holidays and everyday for the next couple of months.

Techniques:

  • I love the bold geometrics of the Tucked Hearts background stamp. It caught my eye right away when I saw the products. I knew I had to create a card really showing it off.

  • I chose two colors of cardstock (both bright, one a coral and the other a warm pink) that coordinate well and are similar in value (how light/dark they are), but different enough to show. I stamped the Tucked Hearts in bright red on an A2 panel of the first (coral) color, and made note of exactly where I had placed that panel so I could stamp the other color the same

  • I cut, scored and folded an A2 card out of my second color of cardstock. (I used a warm pink, similar in value to the front panel.) I stamped the same stamp and ink color on the right inside panel. By placing it exactly where the single panel was, I was able to be sure the patterns would line up perfectly.

  • My plan was to cut the front panel shorter than the back, so with pencil and t-square ruler ready, I found a point just in from the right side that had a clear visual axis created by the angles in the hearts. I used a pencil to lightly draw that line in, and then cut it out. (see pictures below.)

  • Once I had that front panel trimmed down, I measured how wide it was (not counting the hearts that stick out beyond), and then trimmed down my folded card so the front (not the side with stamping) was the same width, and glued that panel on the front.

  • A fun die cut greeting in bright white really pops, especially when layered (slightly offset) over a black die cut to create a graphic shadow look.

  • A few basic hearts in cardstock that match the red ink I stamped with add some flow and finish the card.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Watermelon (coral), Honeysuckle (warm pink), and Poppy (bright warm red). Black and White.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Poppy.
