Sweetheart Box To Love

A new release from Simon Says Stamp!

Hello! It may be almost time for the December holidays, but it is also time for the new release from Simon Says Stamp. Introducing the TO LOVE release! (See the whole release here.)

If you’re busy now with holidays, that’s fine. The inspiration and fun products will be ready for you as the new year begins.

Techniques:

  • Of course, I have to start out with the Sweethearts Box Die. I know I’ll get a lot of use out of this one - even beyond Valentine’s. This make a fun little treat box. I used one of the included heart dies and cut an opening in the front.

  • The new Falling in Love stencil is perfect for adding some fun pattern to the box. You can see in the images below how I masked off half the box to stencil one side, and then moved the stencil to the other side. The great thing is that it was designed to create a continuous pattern if you just slide the stencil over.

    • I blended three colors through the stencil to create the hearts.

    • After removing the stencil, I blended the top and bottom colors lightly over the hearts so the space between has a tint of the colors as well.

  • Because I wanted to put candy inside the box, added a piece of acetate inside the box where the heart cutout is.

  • I also wanted to be sure that the box looked cute even if the candy was gone, so I lined the inside back with a piece of coordinating cardstock. Now when someone looks in through the heart they see pink, rather than unfinished white. It would also be a fun place to add a bonus message. (I’ll do that on a future box.)

  • Some little finishing touches were added using other dies in the die set - the fun die cut letters and the heart outline around the window.

Thank you for visiting!
