STAMPtember is Here!

Tropical Stromanthe Stencil

I’ll be sharing cards throughout the month made with some of the STAMPtember products, and so will many other talented designers. It is going to be a fun month filled with ideas and inspiration!

It begins on September 1 with a huge new product release, and is an online celebration all month long. There are over 30 limited-edition collaborations with some of the wonderful companies who are part of this industry that will be coming too. You can find all the details on the Simon Says Stamp blog here.

This card features the new Stromanthe Stencil Set.

The layers make it easy to create the leaf with different shades - or colors, as I did here.

Techniques:

  • For a fun tropical feel I used colors beyond the obvious greens. For each of the three stencil layers I used, I blended two ink colors together. That added a lot of variation and interest in the leaves.

    • layer 1: pink & orange

    • layer 2: green & blue

    • layer 3: blue & pink

  • I kept the greeting in a bold black and white, to contrast with the organic shapes and rainbow of color in the leaves.

  • Gold splatter on the leaves added a great detail and energy with the sparkle and movement it brings to the card.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th: Midnight. Hammermill white

  • ink: Concord & 9th: Dragonfruit, Clementine, Avocado, and Midnight. Versafine Onyx Black
