Mod Celebrate

This card was included in the Spring/Summer 2024 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine. Now that the magazine has been out for a bit, I’m able to share it.

I began this card with a Sorbet base panel, and sprayed it with some tangerine shimmer spray, and then added splatters of the Pure Sunshine (gold) one.

While that dried, I moved on to the two cover dies. I cut the Mid-Century one from Clementine cardstock, and I used the Leaf Pattern one on Nectar cardstock. I felt those leaves had a mid-century style that went well with the geometric one. I blended some Sorbet ink onto the upper left and lower right corners of the Mid-Century die cut. This means those two corners blend in with the base panel more a the other two corners stand out a bit more. By mixing some of the colors in the back panel and die cut cover, it brings a fun energy with the visual shift between foreground and back.

I also used my blending brush from that Sorbet ink to blend some of the Nectar leaves that were going to be behind my words, so the white would stand out more. I cut the sentiment out of white cardstock, and layered a few together for dimension. I found a flower die that fit in with the other pieces, and cut a couple of those from the white as well.

Once I had all the parts, I layered it all together with Gina K Connect glue. The Nectar-colored circles are some of the bits from that Zero-Waste Leaf Pattern die. They relate to the gold splatters in the background, and mix in well with the other mid-century elements on this card.

You can find the magazine issue here. I have a subscription because I enjoy reading the paper magazine (and it is a nice quality one) but they are generous and also have it available to view digitally for free!

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to create something soon.
