Making Cover Die Scraps into a Card

I really appreciate the lines and angles of the Empire Inlay Card Front Die from Concord & 9th. When I made my last card, I had large portions of the cover die cuts left, so of course I wanted to find a way to turn those into a card.

I used the same colors as I did on the previous one (except the Rainforest), since I was making use of leftover parts.

I thought the pieces I had left of Grasshopper and Peacock would fit together well, and fit perfectly on an A2 base, so once I figured that out I trimmed them down and glued them on with my Gina K Connect Glue. I had some balloons left from the previous card also, and wanted to make use of them here. (I was going to use them on that card, until I decided it would make a good thank you card for someone I needed one for.)

When I’d gotten this order from Concord & 9th - which included the 6 new ink colors - I had gone ahead and stamped some of the birthday greetings from the Bunch of Balloons stamp set in multiple colors. (I often need birthday cards and that seemed a good way to make it easier!) That was really helpful because it made it easy for me to try out different colored greetings. I used foam squares to give that - and the balloons - some dimension.

A sprinkling of white enamel dots repeats that splatter through the rest of the card, and helps unite the sentiment with it all. This is definitely one of the fastest cards I’ve made! Having all the pieces already made and ready to use helped it come together very quickly.

Here is a look at both of these cards, side by side. I love being able to make such good use of the leftover pieces like this! (I don’t always do it as promptly, but this is much better than leaving them in a pile on my table until I decide what to do with them.)
Do you try to use all your pieces, or do you just use what you need and trash or recycle the rest?

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to create something soon.
