Cheering for You Release from Simon Says Stamp

I’ll be sharing a few card ideas for the release on this post over the next few days.
Outline stamps like the ones in the new Spooky Sweets set are perfect for coloring in with your favorite medium, but how else can we use them? You don’t have to color them in if that’s not your thing, or your mood. For this card I chose a trio of colors and stamped on the colored cardstock with a deep black ink.
Techniques:
Stamping on colored cardstock instead of coloring them in on white puts the focus on the linework itself.
I added a neutral gray Copic marker shadow along some of the lines in the stamped images, to add some subtle depth and interest that doesn’t detract from that simplicity.
For the inside, I used the new Distress Shimmer Spritz on black cardstock, which is a fun pattern and shimmer that balances out the more simple images on the front.
Putting these pieces together on one of the new clear acetate folded cards from Simon Says Stamp was a great time-saver, and adds a fun layer of interest as you can see through to the inside.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Lemongrass, Clementine, and Grape Soda. Hero Arts Black.
Spritz colors: Distress Spritz in Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade.
Another fun but simple card using the new Spooky Sweets stamp and die sets.
Techniques:
This uses a sprinkling of smaller candy stamps from the set, stamped in black on colored cardstock.
I added a neutral gray Copic marker shadow to add some subtle depth.
Using the halloween brights on a background that’s pink adds to the sweetness of the card. (So, sweet in more ways than one!)
White pigment ink was applied to a stencil with a foam blending tool to add that fun rainbow pattern to the pink background cardstock.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Pink Lemonade, Lemongrass, Clementine, and Grape Soda.
When I saw this die that my friend had, I knew it was one that needed to be opened to reveal something inside. It is a limited space, but I love the engagement that is created when you feel like you’re uncovering more as you open it.
Techniques:
I split the two parts of the die cut greeting so that one is on the front, and the other is revealed when the front (wing") is opened.
The back panel is sprayed wth the new Distress Shimmer Spritz, but before I sprayed it I added a web stencil on the panel (and masked off the inside of the wing. This let the web remain black against the shimmery orange spritz around it.
A sprinkling of little purple bats adds a bright pop of contrasting color. There’s one hidden behind the bat wing, also.

Techniques:
I stenciled the larger of the two leaves using a couple of shades of green. I used dye inks that are water reactive, so I spritzed it with water and blotted it up to add some additional pattern.
Refined Copper Lunar Paste through one of the stencils adds a layer of dimension, texture, and metallic shine. I intentionally left some marks in the paste as I spread it as a subtle nod to the veining pattern in leaves.
Cutting the leaf out (instead of creating it directly on the card background) allowed me to let the tips of the leaves unattached, which adds some natural dimension. (I glued it with liquid glue, but only in the center and toward the center of each lobe of the leaf.) I cut it out by hand, but I’ve since heard that a die for this will be coming! I’ll be sure to add the link here once it has been produced and is in stock.
Because the leaf is so organic in shape, I wanted a background with a more geometric structure. I did some light blending of Wheat ink from Concord & 9th through the most open layer of the Tiled Art stencil set from Simon Says Stamp.

cardstock: Concord & 9th Wheat. Hero Arts Black. Neenah White.
ink: Concord & 9th Wheat, Artichoke, and Avocado.
