Different Techniques for Treat Bags

I made some fun Valentine treat bags for my daughter and friends in college. Rather than making them all the same design, I thought it would be fun to do each a little bit different, and make use of more of the supplies I have to create with.

These bags started with the new Concord & 9th In The Bag die set. I die cut the larger size of the bags out of 4 different colors and also of white.

Bag 1:

Stenciled onto white cardstock. I sprayed it with shimmer spray, and added a die cut heart that I popped up with a foam square for dimension.

Bag 2:

All cardstock on this one. I added pink stripes to the red base of the bag. I added a little die cut heart that I created by cutting the larger one, then positioning a smaller one on the cut heart (making sure to leave space at all the edges) and die cutting again, to create that negative space in the heart.

Bag 3:

Stenciled with Sweet Pea and Clementine ink, and then I added some Lunar Paste through a stencil for a bit of dimensional shimmer.

Bag 4:

This one was cut from patterned paper, which is a really easy way to make fun bags! I added a coordinating die cut in Grapefruit cardstock with foam tape for dimension.

Bag 5:

For this one, I used a pale pink cardstock base and stamped the background stamp with three different colors of ink. (Stamping one color at a time. I feathered out the edges of the inked area with a blending brush on the stamp itself before stamping on the paper because I wanted a blend between the colors.) I added a die cut I made by cutting the outside with three layers of white cardstock and gluing them together. I then cut a fourth with the same die on Clementine cardstock, but I adjusted my cutting plates so it didn’t quite cut through all the way. This allowed me to keep that orange base layer together. I glued the stack of white outline die cuts on top of that, and added a pink heart in the middle. I sprayed that whole assembled light bulb with a few coats of shimmer spray so it was very sparkly. Once it dried, I added it to the bag with double sided tape.

Each of those bags got ribbon handles, and I added some die cut and stamped tags (from the same bundle as the bag dies).

Bag 6:

This bag was made separately, but fits in with the others well. I stamped the background with ink in the same color, for a subtle tone-on-tone effect. I cut letters from 2 colors and offset backed them all with white. Since it was for Valentine’s Day, I replaced one of the “o” letters with a heart. I added two more hearts above the letters - a cardstock one that I glued on, and one from patterned paper that is popped up with foam squares. I love the interest those different dimensional layers provide. This bag uses handles of cardstock, with a die from the bag set, instead of ribbon like the others.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to create something soon.
