Simple Winter Scene

The November Festive Fun release from Simon Says Stamp is great for this season - and beyond. See the whole release here.

Techniques:

  • This Forest Ring die is perfect for framing a scene — or a greeting. I chose here to make the ring out of Evergreen cardstock, did some ink blending on it just to add shading on the ring itself at the top and bottom, and then spritzed it with some Mica Spray. Once it dried, I layered a couple of die cuts of darker green (Rainforest) cardstock behind it to add depth — both actual dimension and visual appearance.

  • Using a coordinating theme embossing folder on Blueberry cardstock created the back panel. I inked the edges with Blueberry ink to add a bit of depth there to ground it. Once I decided my ring placement, I cut a mask out of vellum and placed that on my card front while I applied a lighter Distress Oxide color to add a highlight area. (I used the mask because I wanted the highlight area to stay within the ring.)

  • To add some magical interest to that focal area, I added some stars with Solar Paste and a stencil.

  • A simple white embossed greeting on black cardstock finishes it off, and contrasts well with the darker background.

Colors:

  • cardstock: Concord & 9th Evergreen, Rainforest, Blueberry. Black.

  • ink: Concord & 9th Evergreen and Blueberry. Distress Oxide: Tumbled Glass.
