Old Fashioned Christmas
The November Festive Fun release from Simon Says Stamp is great for the upcoming holidays - and beyond. See the whole release here. I’m sharing some more cards with it over the next couple of weeks.
This post focuses on the Old Fashioned Christmas stamps and dies.
Techniques:
Instead of the obvious approach of stamping and coloring it in with markers or watercolors. I chose some warm colors to tie in with the color and feel of the drinks.
I stamped the image with multiple colors so that the images are lighter at the top and darker at the bottom. I started with the lighter ink colors, stamped the whole thing in that, and then gradually added deeper layers lower on the stamp.
To enhance the festive mood of the card I embossed some Mushroom cardstock with a poinsettia embossing folder. I added ink blending with Mushroom ink in areas to highlight the pattern and add depth.
There’s a space inside the front flap to write a greeting.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Grapefruit, Nectar, Creamsicle, and Mushroom.
ink: Concord & 9th Sorbet, Grapefruit, Creamsicle, and Mushroom.
Techniques:
For this card I did do some more traditional stamping in black ink, and used inks to watercolor the drink and add some shadowing to the decanter.
To support the festive feel, I embossed a dark green background with wintery trees, and added a big red bow (from the same stamp set) to the bottle. (Though I’ll admit that the decanter should maybe be more full if it is being given as a gift. Maybe the gift has already been enjoyed…)
Gold embossing on both the bow and the sentiment tie in with the warm color (and feel) from the drink, and add to the festive touch.
Colors:
cardstock: Concord & 9th Cranberry, Juniper, and Mushroom. Neenah Solar White.
