Crop & Create Delivered Cardmaking Virtual Event

Last week and weekend was the Fall 2024 Cardmaking event. These are put on by Scrapbook and Cards Today. (A brilliant pivot they created in 2020 when in person events were cancelled and on hold.) I’ve been fortunate to be able to say I’ve done these from the beginning of the virtual events. I’ve done all the multi-day cardmaking events, and a few of the more paper craft/scrapbooking ones. They are always an amazing time. So well organized, communicated, and planned. So much product included in the box, wonderful classes, the best teachers, and an online community to with it all. I always feel so connected, energized, and finish the event full of inspiration to keep creating. So yes, I highly recommend doing one if you haven’t.

Some of the first big excitement starts before the event, but peaks when the boxes of product arrive. Then there is a virtual unboxing event where Catherine and someone else (this year it was Jennifer McGuire) go through ALL the contents of the box and we see what’s inside - if we haven’t already peeked. It is always so full, and it is fun to see what products we will be using. (All we need are the standard and basic cardmaking supplies - like tools, adhesives, etc.) I always start to sort my products by class after this, in preparation for the event.

I’ve done these with a friend, and since we started because we had a trip planned to go to an in-person one in Toronto, we’ve decided to make the event a getaway weekend as often as we can. (A few haven’t worked that way due to our schedules, and we’ve done them at home on our own.) One of my college friends and her daughter have since joined us, and I know other friends would join in. (Hmm… can we find a big enough place to stay and do it?) We have a lot of fun.

We bring along tables, stream to a (hopefully big) TV, and create a lot. (See farther below for that.) We spend our days creating along with the classes, enjoying the opening and closing excitement, and enjoying the fun together. (And plenty of snacks.) The classes are taught by some of the absolute best (and nicest) people, representing many of our favorite companies. (Take a look on the website - like below - to see what’s planned for the next event and you’ll see.) I know you’ll be able to recognize some companies by looking at my cards below also.

This year as a group, the 4 of us completed 186 cards! I’m the slacker of the event. Probably because I spend time engaging in the chats with other friends, and I’ll admit that I often go off on creative tangents with my cards. Some I do just as planned in the class, some I do but with minor color variations, and some are out of left field. (See the pink and purple creepy card here that evolved from some flower dies…) That really is one of the fun things about these events though - there is no wrong way to do it. Do it all live, just watch and go back and make everything later, do it as shown or in your own way. The event is there, and we can do what works for us.

These next three pictures show:
1. My completed cards (I have many more in progress to finish up)
2. The completed cards for the 4 of us
3. Selfie with friends (this is a casual no-makeup weekend - don’t judge… ha!)

At the moment, the products in the event box were exclusive to the event, but some will be released later on. I’ll be sure to update my post with links if they do.
