A New Angle for Cover Dies

I really appreciate the lines and angles of the Empire Inlay Card Front Die from Concord & 9th. I wanted to try another way to use them - not as a straight full card front, but playing with the 45° angles in it, and piecing colors together.

My key colors for this card are Rainforest for the card base, and Grasshopper, Eucalyptus, and Peacock that I cut with the cover die. I arranged the three die cuts on my card front so that the 45° angles became the verticals and horizontals, and glued them down using my Gina K Connect Glue and trimmed down all the sides so it is A2 size like the base.

I wanted to add a little more energy and color play, so I placed two negative space pieces (from the die cuts) into each section using the two other colors. This way, each of the three sections is made of one main color with the other two as accents.

I glued on die cut letters that I aligned with the angle created by the background panels. I knew it needed something in the upper left for visual balance, so I die cut a heart with the Love Quilt Top Dies. I used the same colors as the rest of the card, but added some inking around the edges and splattered them with white to help them stand out. I used foam squares to give them some dimension.

A sprinkling of white enamel dots repeats that splatter through the rest of the card, and helps unite the sentiment with it all.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to create something soon.
