Two Ways to Use the Same Die

I showed a few ideas for using this bow die set in other ways, but it does make a really fun bow when used as intended.

I had a chance to borrow a friend’s Concord & 9th All Wrapped Up die set, created a couple of different birthday cards with it. These are both pretty simple to create. I have found that birthday cards are good to have ready, because so often I don’t realize the birthday is coming until it is time to send or give the card NOW. This was a great way to add to my collection.

Card 1:

I always enjoy letters and words as shapes and pattern, and wanted to create the “wrapping paper” on the card with a collection of birthday sentiments. I chose a blue/green color palette for these to complement the blue bow and ribbon I’d already put together.

Before I started stamping them, I pulled them together and played with an arrangement on the paper before I inked anything. That helped me figure out spatially what would fit and make sense, and helped me balance the larger and smaller words and colors.

Card 2:

I also made a mini bow, using the smallest center piece of that die set. I thought it would be perfect to top a small gift on a card, and then found this square birthday stamp from the Concord & 9th All the Birthdays stamp set that was the perfect size. A fun sunburst stencil really focuses all the attention to this gift. Shimmer spray on the background is another fun touch that goes well with the theme.

I did have one little spot in the center of that stamp that wasn’t stamping, so I solved that with an enamel dot. No one will ever know that one hides an imperfection… except you and I. Then I added a generous sprinkle of more on the card because birthdays are fun!

Thank you for visiting! I hope you get some time to create something soon.
